Baker, a junior from Coeur d'Alene Charter who played basketball at Lake City, was named the Big Sky Conference women's basketball player of the week for Jan. 9-15. Baker averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Grizzlies to home wins over Northern Arizona (60-48) and Weber State (77-70). She has four double-doubles in six games since the Christmas break and went 15 of 17 from the free throw line and added five assists, two blocks and two steals.

Murray, a freshman from Coeur d'Alene High, broke a school record in the open weight throw with a toss of 48 feet, 3/4 inches to finish seventh in the Washington State Indoor Meet in Pullman on Saturday.

Kristine Leonard

Idaho track and field

Leonard, a junior from Lakeland High, threw a career-best 154 feet, 8 inches in the indoor discus and 52.5 feet to finish second in the 20-pound weight throw at the Washington State Indoor Open on Friday in Pullman. On Saturday, she finished second in the shot put with a throw of 44- 1/2 and earned Western Athletic Conference honors as the female field athlete of the week.

Bauman, a sophomore from Post Falls High, finished sixth with a throw of 47 feet, 10 inches at the Air Force All-Comers Indoor Meet on Friday in Colorado Springs.

Tugce Canitez

Westmont

women's basketball

Canitez, a junior formerly of North Idaho College, was named the Golden State Athletic Conference women's player of the week after leading the Warriors (16-1, 6-0 GSAC) to wins over Vanguard and San Diego Christian. Against Vanguard, Canitez scored 23 points and had nine rebounds and eight assists. She is averaging 18.3 points per game, which is third in the conference and 12th among NAIA Division I players.
