The Wildkat basketball team had a tough time against Glacier High School on Jan. 13, but bounced back for a nice win against Whitefish the next night.

"We had way too many turnovers (against Glacier)," coach Cary Finberg said. Glacier took a 15-8 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.

Against the Lady Bulldogs, the Kats played much better. Hope Burlage had a game-high 22, and freshman Winter Kemppainen knocked down 10. Haley Belgarde also did well, scoring eight.

"They did what they had to do," Finberg said. "Hope played well, and Winter came in and did a great job."

The girls (2-7) have a tough road this week with away games against Frenchtown Friday and Kalispell Flathead Saturday.

Finberg said it's time for the girls to step it up.

"No. 1, we have to take care of the basketball," he said.

Frenchtown hasn't lost a game this season and leads the conference.

A win against the Lady Broncs would be huge. The girls can do it. They took Polson to overtime a week ago.

The girls are scheduled to face Flathead at 5:45 p.m.
