In Moscow, Jan. 12, the Badgers boys varsity lost with Moscow outscoring them 54-39.

Head coach Clint Arthur said the team started out slow in the first quarter.

“We did not execute offensively and we were flat defensively, especially in transition,” said Arthur.

In the fourth quarter the Badgers played more evenly against Moscow but according to Arthur the Badgers could not overcome the deficit that was created in the first quarter.

“Moscow played hard and their athleticism created some mismatch problems for us,” Arthur said. “Alex Awbrey had a solid game down low, but we did not shoot well enough from the outside.”

Awbrey led in scoring with 11 points. Junior Evan Moe came in with eight points. Andre Zarate, a senior, had seven points, junior Isaac Price had six points.  Junior Garret Skeen had four points and sophomore Cameron Woods had two points.

The game scheduled for Tuesday night against Lake City’s junior varsity was canceled due to weather.

The Badgers play again at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21,  in a league game against St. Maries.
