Bulldogs take down No. 3 Spartan girls in OT

PRIEST RIVER — Hailey Olin hit a three-point shot with just seven seconds left to send the game into overtime for the Bulldog girls, who went on a 9-2 run in the extra period to beat Priest River44-37 on Thursday night.

Olin scored 17 points and Maggie Kirscher added a game-high 23 points to go along with 10 rebounds for Sandpoint (8-10).

“I knew it was in,” said Olin, who gave credit to teammates Jenny Van Ooyen and Kirscher for setting a great double screen. “I was wide open and thinking ‘I’m going to knock the shot down.’”

Liz Halcro scored 16 and Steffie Pavey added 11 for 3A Priest River (9-5), currently ranked No. 3 in the state.

Sandpoint shot a combined 14 for 18 from the freethrow line in the fourth quarter and overtime.

The Bulldogs get back to league play when they host Lakeland next Friday. Priest River plays at Bonners Ferry on Tuesday.
