Polson coach Bob Owen said Thursday night's nonconference wrestling dual could have gone either way.

Fortunately for Owen, his Pirates pulled off a key victory at 152 pounds and went on to post a 42-34 victory over Flathead.

Polson's Mike Devlin decisioned Flathead's Jacob Egley in that key match, 2-1.

"Mike Devlin pulled his out at the end with a takedown," Owen said.

"That was the match that put us over the hump. If that match went the other way, we could have easily lost it (the dual). Hopefully that's a breakthrough (match) for him."

Polson earned points in nine weight classes, five by pin (Carlos Quinones at 112, Craig Feistner at 125, Drew Fouty at 130, Skylar Anderson at 135 and Josiah Clairmont at heavyweight).

Flathead won two matches by pin (Gavyn Wilson at 105 and Conner Hagel at 215).

"There were a lot of pretty exciting matches, a couple could have gone the other way," Flathead coach Matt Owen said.

"We just came out on the short end of the stick tonight."

Matt Owen said Dyan Guzman, 98 pounds, came back to beat Alex Helgeson 12-7 after losing to him last weekend.

"Conner Hagel went out there and wrestled really strong and got a pin for us," he added.

Hagel's fall time was 2:21.

Flathead is back in action Saturday at the Bozeman duals.

Polson hosts Frenchtown today, 6 p.m.
