June Clarissa Hafner Hoyt, 88, passed away peacefully on Jan. 18, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Omaha, Neb., on June 9, 1923, to Joseph and Celia (Shanahan) Hafner. When she was five years old, she moved with her family to Southern California. June graduated from Holy Family High School in Glendale, Calif., in 1940. In 1943, she married Millard Leston Hoyt and they were later divorced. She obtained her bachelors degree from Howard College in Alabama, where she was a member of the Beta Sigma Omicron sorority. Her career was a registered Records Administrator for hospitals. She lived in Topeka, Kan., before moving to Tulsa, Okla., in 1961, where she lived for 38 years. June worked at Tulsa Community College for several years before retiring to Coeur d'Alene in 1999. ?She loved animals and was never without her dogs and cats. She was also an accomplished pianist. June was a greeter at Lake City Community Church for several years, and then attended The Altar church, both in Coeur d'Alene.?June is survived by her sister, Jeanette O'Linger of Coeur d'Alene, nephews and nieces Bill and Libby O'Linger of Coeur d'Alene, Jim and Kelli O'Linger of Woodcrest, Calif., JoAnn and Paul Luscusk of Kuna, Idaho, and Vivianne VanCamp, as well as numerous grand-nephews and grand-nieces.?The memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at The Altar, 901 East Best Ave, Coeur d'Alene.?In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Good Samaritan Rehabilitation, 901 East Best Ave, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814.?Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
