Leir, Francis ranked No. 1 in all-class wrestling poll

Kyle Leir of Libby and Larry Francis of Flathead are both ranked first at their respective weight classes in the All-Class High School Wrestling Poll released Monday by the Great Falls law firm of Hoyt and Blewett PLLC.

Leir wrestles at 145 pounds and Francis at 171.

Both are seniors.

Leir is 25-3 to date. He won the Havre Invitational, placed second at the Rocky Mountain Classic and fourth at the Tri-State Tournament.

Leir dropped two matches at Tri-State. His losses are to wrestlers from Idaho, Oregon and Washington.

Francis is 27-1 with his one loss coming in the semifinal round at the Tri-State, where he finished third.

Francis placed first at Rocky Mountain, the Pacific Northwest Classic and the Polson Invitational.

The poll features individuals from Class AA, A and B-C. High school wrestling coaches from around the state were involved in the rankings.

Class AA leads with seven No. 1 ranked grapplers. 

Josiah Clairmont of Polson (heavyweight) is ranked No. 3, while Alek Mitchell of Glacier (130) and Shonn Roberts of Columbia Falls (98) are both ranked No. 4.
