Violet Eloise Hopkins, 98, passed peacefully Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at Life Care Center of Post Falls with her family at her side.
Violet was born Sept. 6, 1913, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Henry Earl and Leona Mary (Fish) Randall. They lived in several areas of California before settling in Huntington Park where she graduated from high school.
Violet then studied music and graduated from business college. She married her high school sweetheart John Bouillon. They remained in Huntington Park and raised their two children; Cheryl and Earl. She was involved in many activities with her children while teaching piano.
The family moved to Pomona, Calif., in 1951. Later Violet and John divorced. She continued teaching and was president of the Pomona Valley Music Teachers Association.
In 1979 Violet married Woody Hopkins. Then soon moved to Coeur d'Alene where daughter Cheryl and family lived and to be closer to family in Spokane.
Violet and Woody made many friends through Welcomer's Club, enjoying dinners and activities. They loved their yearly vacations including cruising. Outings and fishing on the area lakes were a favorite pastime along with dancing at the Eagles. They were members of Christ the King Lutheran Church.
Violet and Woody built their dream home with the help of contractor, son Earl. She loved to entertain friends and family. After Woody's passing, Violet again taught piano.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents; husband Woody Hopkins; brother and sister-in-law Cecil and Mary Lou Randall; special Aunt Peggy LaRoe and grandson Randy Hollingsworth.
Violet is survived by son Earl Bouillon; daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Robert Hollingsworth; grandchildren Crista (Jeff) Newton, Lori Wilkinson, Marne (LuLu) Bouillon, Domenica (Eric) Schultz and Attis Bouillon; great-grandchildren: Danica Mazenko, Jacob and Derek Wilkinson, Cameron Newton, Nalani, Lucas, Kannon and Toren Bouillon, Sophia, Baelen and Asher Schultz; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Christ the King Lutheran Church with viewing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
