CHARLO - Earlier this season, the Charlo Vikings set a season-high with 31 points in the first quarter of a road matchup with the St. Regis Tigers. On Saturday, Jan. 21, they re-established that mark in convincing fashion.

The Vikings scored the game's first 24 points and led 33-4 after eight minutes en route to a 65-18 victory over the Tigers, becoming the first Lake County team to reach the 10-win plateau (10-1).

All 12 Charlo players got into the scoring column as part of a balanced attack that saw only one Viking, Tra Ludeman, reach double figures with 12. Dillon Delaney scored nine, Kail Pope a season-high eight and Stephen Delaney seven in the victory.

After the dominant first quarter, Charlo picked up right where it left off, scoring the second's first nine points to take a 42-4 lead. The Tigers responded with six points in a row, but the Vikings game back at the end of the second and beginning of the third with 10 in a row to grab a 52-10 edge. Charlo head coach Mike Brown then emptied the bench, getting his reserves extended playing time.

Starters Kolten Andrews and Webb O'Neill each scored six points, while Tyler Delaney and Maverick Nelson came off the bench to add four apiece. Tristan Santee notched three points and Justin Krahn, Kobe Cox and Dalton Delaney all added two for the Vikings.

Charlo will look to avenge its only defeat of the season on Friday when they host the Noxon Red Devils. In their previous meeting, Noxon turned a two-point halftime lead into a double-digit edge after three thanks to a 17-8 third quarter as they defeated Charlo 66-52. Andrews led the Vikings with 17 points, while Dillon Delaney added 15 and Ludeman 10 in that defeat.

On Monday, Jan. 30, Charlo will make up a contest with the Mission Bulldogs. That game, originally scheduled for Jan. 19, was postponed due to weather conditions.
