Erlene Flaget passed away Jan. 22, 2012, in Post Falls. She was born June 16, 1922, in Leonard, Mo., to Charles and Ethel Thomas.

The family moved to Kellogg in 1929. Although the Depression years were difficult for the family, Erlene had many fond memories of her years growing up in Kellogg. She graduated from Kellogg High School in 1941.

She married H.O. (Norge) Flaget in 1942. Norge returned from serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II and, a year later, daughter Anita was born. They then moved to the Flaget farm in North Dakota for three years where their son Bruce was born in 1949. They moved back to Idaho in May 1950 and settled in Dalton Gardens where they lived the rest of their lives, Norge preceeding her in death in 1990.

Erlene was a kind and active wife and mother. She and her husband Norge enjoyed snowmobiling trips throughout the Yellowstone Park area and the Northwest. Summertime camping and fishing trips were favorite activities of hers, as well. Erlene took great pride in her years of service on the Dalton Gardens Election Board and will be missed by her family and friends.

Erlene is survived by her daughter, Anita Flaget Leoni (Daniel) and her son, Bruce Flaget of Dalton Gardens. Her grandchildren are Jennifer Leoni Robinson (Scott) and Nathan Leoni (Sarah) of St. George, Utah. Great-grandchildren are James, Daniel and Tori Robinson of Rothesay, New Brunswick, Canada; Jonathan Leoni, Daymion and Coanna Jensen of St. George, Utah; and Autumn and Keegan Leoni of Bloomington, N.M.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements and, per Erlene's request, there will be no services. Please visit Erlene's online memorial and sign her guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
