Marcheso to speak at NIC booster luncheon

Founder of Bankcda and founding member of the Wishing Star Foundation John Marcheso will be the featured speaker at the North Idaho College Booster Club Luncheon at noon Tuesday in The Coeur d'Alene Resort Shore Lounge.

Marcheso's financial advising firm, Marcheso & Associates, has been in the Coeur d'Alene community for 30 years. He has served three times on the Idaho Governor's Dormitory Housing Commission at NIC, which is responsible for all new construction on campus as it relates to public financing.

Marcheso holds a master's degree in business from Rutgers University and is a lifetime member of the financial adviser trade association the Million Dollar Round Table, which awarded him its highest honor of Top of the Table.

The NIC Booster Club meets on the second and last Tuesday of the month at noon, alternating between the Outback Steakhouse and The Coeur d'Alene Resort. The public is welcome to attend. The cost of lunch is not covered.

Erickson elected NIBCA president

The North Idaho Building Contractors Association held its monthly general membership meeting on Jan. 17 which also included the installation of new board members and officers.

Angela Erickson of Panhandle State Bank became the first woman ever elected to the office of president for the NIBCA.

Eight NIBCA past presidents helped to preside over the evening's ceremonies. The group, spanning three decades included NIBCA's first president George Anderl 1981, Bob Turnipseed 1982, Rob Turnipseed 1989, Rudy Klein 1995, Tim Timmins 2003, Kris Pereira 2005, Bill Johnson 2009 and Rod Underhill 1997 and 2011.

Rounding out the evening's festivities was the presentation of the 2011 Associate of the Year award to Linda Gibson of Ultra-Lawn, Company of the Year to Barb Bradley of RR Bradley and Associates and Builder of the Year to Rudy Klein of Klein's Disaster Kleenup.

NIBCA holds its monthly general membership meetings at the Best Western Coeur d'Alene Inn on the third Wednesday of each month beginning at 5 p.m. with the social hour.

The next regularly scheduled meeting will be Feb. 15.

Shred week continues at INB

Community Shred week continues at Inland Northwest Bank of Post Falls.

It is open to the public, one box per family.

ActiveWest qualifies as NAHB finalist

Dennis Cunningham and his company, ActiveWest Builders, qualified as a "Finalist" in the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) 50+ Housing Awards. ActiveWest submitted its project, Meadow Ranch in Coeur d'Alene, in three categories: Best Detached home up to 2,100 square feet; Best 'GreenCommunity,' and Best for sale, up to 200 homes.

ActiveWest will receive either a Gold or Silver award in each category from NAHB to be presented at the International Builders Show in Orlando on Feb. 9. Cunningham and his wife Sharon will attend the show and awards ceremony.

Meadow Ranch is an active adult community in Coeur d'Alene.
