POLSON - Flathead High School knows plenty about Polson's Riley Kenney.
A year after she dropped 30 points on the Lady Braves, Kenney continued to haunt them with a 25-point performance on Thursday but the Lady Pirates fell 50-43 because of a multitude of turnovers in a physical battle.
Polson jumped out to an 8-0 lead, and Flathead didn't score until 4:33 into the first quarter but finished the period on a 13-0 run for the 13-8 lead going into the second quarter. The Lady Pirates bounced back in a big way, outscoring Flathead 17-6 and going into halftime with a 25-19 lead.
However, a 12-0 third-quarter run put Flathead back up 37-31 after three. In the fourth, Flathead went on another run, an 11-1 spurt, but Polson answered with a 10-2 run. They couldn't quite come up with the comeback, though, and fell 50-43.
The Lady Pirates didn't sit in the loss column long, as they put up a resounding 69-18 victory over Whitefish on Saturday.
Kenney was again the dominant force with 19 points and Mackenzie Banner added 12 while Anna DiGiallonardo notched 10.
Polson had the 15-5 lead after the first, then outscored the Lady Bulldogs 24-6 in the second quarter for the 39-11 halftime lead. The relentless Lady Pirate defense allowed just seven points in the second half and scored 30 themselves en route to victory.
The Lady Pirates put out their second-highest point total of the season against the Lady Bulldogs and allowed their fewest points of the season. Their record is now 8-2 on the season and 3-1 in the Northwestern A conference.
Next up for Polson will be Stevensville at home on Thursday before traveling to Eureka next Tuesday.

You’ll have to excuse me for stating the obvious, I’m assuming everyone in Polson already knows this but Neal Lewing is one heck of an actor. I was first able to see the Port Polson player as Judge Turpin in the production of Sweeney Todd last November.
