Eleanor D. "Jean" Hicks, 83, of Coeur d'Alene, died Jan. 21, 2012. She was born Nov. 14, 1928, in Spokane to Andrew and Freda (Hanson) Bergstrom.

She grew up in Spokane and worked most of her life in retail sales. In 1948 she moved to the Los Angeles area and was married to Robert Hicks on April 4, 1976. They made their home in Alhambra, Calif., and moved to Coeur d'Alene in 1993 after Bob's retirement. She enjoyed stamp collecting, crocheting, various other crafts and walking. She was a member of First Baptist Church and prefers memorials to the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997. She is survived by a sister, Elsa Nieman of Lima Linda, Calif.

A private urn placement will be held at the Riverview Niche with Yates Funeral Home in care of the arrangements.
