Kids playing chicken were just getting their ball

Saturday afternoon a caller reported seeing three young kids playing chicken with cars on Fifth Avenue West to the Kalispell Police Department.
The caller reported seeing the kids running back and forth across the street in between cars and stopped to tell them to go home. They said their parents were not home. An officer spoke to the kids and their father, who said they were going to retrieve a ball.
A woman was arrested on U.S. 93 for driving with an expired license and for an outstanding warrant from Washington.
A store employee on Hutton Ranch Road saw a male put a check in the trash. The caller recovered the check and saw it appeared to be altered when the man started demanding it back. Police found the fraud complaint unfounded, but arrested the man for an outstanding warrant.
A woman on Third Avenue West told police she almost burned her house down. She put bread in the toaster and it "caught fire like a bomb." She wanted to show the bread to an officer and said the toaster was on fire in the yard.
Someone on Third Avenue East North reported seeing an older man buying alcohol for young girls. An officer advised they were all gone upon arrival.
A caller told police a female fell in the road and was crying for help at Fourth Street West and 10th Avenue West.
A woman on Liberty Street told police that her neighbors refused to not smoke on the porch. She asked them to stop because her son has asthma and the smoke comes in through the door and causes medical problems.
Late Saturday night, a caller reported seeing at least three vehicles spinning doughnuts in the high school parking lot on Fourth Avenue West. One driver was warned; another was counseled. A juvenile female was released to her mother.
Early Sunday morning, a woman on Mountain Vista Way reported finding footprints around her car and one of the car doors ajar. Another caller reported a few dollars and some change taken from his vehicle. Residents in the area advised the footprints all led to a house on Jackson Peak.
A theft from a vehicle was reported on Woodland Avenue.
A caller on Liberty Street told police the neighbor is playing her bass too loud. Both parties were counseled.
Someone on Third Avenue West reported two suspicious males sitting in a dark blue Nissan Pathfinder for a long time before getting out, one carrying a "sock monkey." An officer said the subjects were sitting at the location talking and were leaving. He agreed they did look suspicious.
A physical disturbance with lots of yelling and cursing reported on Liberty Street turned out to be a man having a meltdown over a text message from his girlfriend.
Saturday, someone on South Veteran Drive told the Columbia Falls Police Department that thefts have been occurring in the area.
A caller on 12th Avenue West reported a group of teenagers acting strangely, rolling around in the snow and trying to get into a building. The teens told an officer they were sitting under an awning of a house to get away from the snow, not trying to break in.
A caller on Second Avenue East said someone keeps parking on the wrong side of the street and blocking the caller's driveway. An officer could not make it up the hill to look at the issue but made contact with the owner, who agreed to move the vehicle.
Someone on Sixth Street West reported the theft of a ring.
Saturday morning, the Lake County Sheriff's Office arrested someone for driving under the influence during a traffic stop on North Reservoir Road.
Someone reported a theft from a vehicle to the Polson Police Department on Saturday.
Thefts on Scott Avenue, Flathead Avenue and Spokane Avenue were reported to the Whitefish Police Department on Saturday.
Later that night, a vehicle was reported stolen on East Second Street.
Sunday morning, the Flathead County Sheriff's Office responded to a theft reported on Hagerman Lane.
A physical disturbance was reported on Highway 35.
Someone on Mission Trail reported a missing person.
