Kitchton wins it for Chiefs in overtime

SPOKANE - Brenden Kitchton scored the game-winner 3:10 into overtime to lift the Spokane Chiefs past the Kootenay Ice 5-4 Saturday night in Western Hockey League play in front of 8,412 at the Spokane Arena.

Kootenay jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period, prompting Spokane to pull starting goaltender Mac Engel after the period.

Todd Fiddler and Marek Kalus scored midway through the period to pull Spokane within 3-2 after two.

Joe Antilla scored his second goal of the night midway through the third period to extend the Kootenay advantage.

Corey Baldwin scored on a power-play goal and Darren Kramer tied the game at 4 for Spokane, his second straight night with a goal to force overtime.

Spokane (27-14-4-3, 61 points) improves to 18-5-1-1 at home and remains in fourth place in the U.S. Division with the win.

Eric Williams had 18 saves for Spokane, which travels to Seattle on Tuesday night at 7:05.
