Golf

Tiger Woods shot a 6-under 66 Saturday for a share of the lead with Robert Rock going into the final round of the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship in Aub Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Also two back at 9-under 207 were Rory McIlroy, who played with Woods for the third straight day and had a 68 and is two shots back, along with Peter Hanson (64), Francesco Molinari (66) and Paul Lawrie (68).

• Kyle Stanley missing a 4-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole but opened a five-shot lead in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego.

A birdie would have broken the 54-hole tournament record set by Tiger Woods in 1998, before Rees Jones beefed up the South Course for the 2008 U.S. Open. Stanley still managed a 4-under 68, a spot alongside Woods in the record book at 18-under 198 and great position for his first victory.

John Huh, a 21-year-old rookie who spent three years on the Korean Tour, and John Rollins each had 68 and were at 13-under 203.

Football

Michigan State's Kirk Cousins and Wisconsin's Russell Wilson threw touchdown passes to lead the North to a 23-13 victory over the South in the Senior Bowl in Moble, Ala.

• The Chicago Bears hired Kansas City Chiefs director of college scouting Phil Emery as their new general manager.

• San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith was charged with driving under the influence in Miami Beach, Fla.

Miami-Dade County jail records show Smith was booked Saturday morning and held on $1,000 bond.

Smith was drafted as the seventh overall draft pick in 2011. During his first season, he had 14 sacks, a franchise record for a rookie linebacker. He also ranked first in the NFL in sacks among rookies.

Skiing

Didier Cuche won his second consecutive World Cup downhill race on a shortened Kandahar course in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

The 37-year-old Swiss veteran was coming off his record fifth win in Kitzbuehel, Austria, which was also run on a shortened course.

• Lindsey Vonn dominated yet another World Cup downhill, winning by 1.42 seconds on the Engiadina course in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

Maria Hoefl-Riesch of Germany, the defending overall champion, was runner-up.

Figure skating

Ashley Wagner won her first title at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in San Jose, Calif., finishing with a score of 187.02 points. Two-time champion Alissa Czisny and Agnes Zawadzki melted down.

Earlier, Meryl Davis and Charlie White claimed their fourth straight ice dancing title.

Auto racing

One former Grand-Am champion was knocked out of the Rolex 24 at Daytona in Daytona Beach, Fla., less than an hour into the race, and another lost several laps a quarter of the way into the twice-around-the-clock event, which concludes today.

Max Angelelli took the No. 10 Chevrolet to the garage with an engine issue 25 minutes into the race.

About five hours later, Alex Gurney took the No. 99 Chevrolet behind the wall after hitting something on the 3.56-mile road course and puncturing a hole in the radiator.
