Kalispell offers to sell leftover land

The city of Kalispell is trying to sell off a narrow strip of land at the southwest corner of North Meridian Road and Three Mile Drive.

The .62-acre tract cannot be built on or developed. It was given to Kalispell by the state, left over after the Montana Department of Transportation bought land and improved the intersection back in 2006.

Several businesses have expressed interest in buying the land to be able to maintain and landscape it.

“That would be a good thing for them and for the city, because we incur maintenance costs mowing and taking care of it and it just doesn’t have any purpose at all,” said Mike Baker, director of parks and recreation.

“Might as well put her on the tax rolls and get her going again.”

The city issued a notice of sale for the land on Thursday.

Bids will be accepted by the city clerk through 2 p.m. July 20. The city reserves the right to refuse the high bid if it is not a reasonable amount.

Kalispell also is offering a boom truck for sale to the highest bidder. The truck is a 1991 Chevrolet Kodiak chassis with a Versalift model VO50 boom.

The truck can be inspected at the city’s parks department shop at 1532 First Ave. W. from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Bids will be accepted by the city clerk through 5 p.m. July 20.

More information about the sales is online at: www.kalispell.com/clerk/projects_open.php.
