As of July 1 open burning will be closed until Oct. 1.

Recreational campfires will be allowed. They must be no bigger than 4-foot tall, 4-foot wide and 4-foot long and in a fire-ring.

We are monitoring potential flooding in our fire district. At this time, the Swan River has receded and does not appear to be a concern.

The major area of concern is Echo Lake. The lake is rising 1.5-inches per day. There are some access issues around the lake at this time.

The Bigfork Fire Department would like to thank the Woods Bay Grill, Flathead Brewery, The Raven and the Sitting Duck for sponsoring the Taste of the Bay which raised $700 for the department. We are looking at replacing a gas monitor with this donation.

For the month of June, as of June 29, Bigfork Fire Department responded to 55 incidents: two garbage dumps, five Land Medical Helicopter calls, 35 EMS calls, excluding vehicle accident with injury, three vehicle accidents with injuries, two motor vehicle accidents with no injuries, one gas leak (natural gas or LPG), one electrical wiring/equipment problem, two down power lines, one authorized controlled burning, one false alarm or false call, and the alarm system sounded twice due to malfunction.
