Two injured in powered parachute crash

POST FALLS - Two men were injured Sunday when a powered parachute crashed while attempting to take off from a Post Falls church parking lot.

The incident, reported at 7:54 p.m., occurred at Faith Ministries church on 16th Avenue. The Kootenai County Sheriff's Department reports the parachute crashed into an unoccupied school bus owned by the church.

Passenger Collin Williams, 18, Post Falls, was transported to Kootenai Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The operator, David Endsley, 50, Redmond, Ore., was treated and released at the scene with minor injuries.

A powered parachute is a motorized parachute with wheels.

KCSD Maj. Ben Wolfinger told The Press his department is researching whether a license was required to pilot the craft.

An investigation continues.

Burglary reported in unlocked Cd'A apartment

COEUR d'ALENE - A Coeur d'Alene resident told police that someone burglarized her apartment while she was sleeping in the bedroom.

According to a July 1 police report, a couple in a Fairway Drive apartment reported that the man left about 6:30 a.m. Sunday and returned around 8 a.m.

He noted that someone had been in the apartment. Kitchen cupboards were open, stacks of paper from a drawer were on the floor, and medication was missing from the top of the refrigerator. A checkbook and antique compass were also reportedly taken.

The woman told police the bedroom door was shut, and said "she is a very solid sleeper and she is not surprised the burglary didn't awaken her."

The male told police he believed he left the front door unlocked.
