Youth Challenge grad

Cadet Trent Boggs, of Columbia Falls, recently graduated from the Montana Youth Challenge Academy, in Dillon. The academy offers a 17 1/2 month-long, three-phase, tuition-free program on the campus of the University of Montana-Western designed to assist 16-18 year-old youths develop academic and physical skills.

MSU-Bozeman honor roll

The following local students were named to the spring 2012 honor roll at Montana State University-Bozeman. Students with a 4.0 grade point average were named to the president's honor roll. An asterisk follows their names. Canyon bike trail meeting May 16

A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
