Argonne J. Dotts “Joe” passed away at his home on June 29, 2012, with family sending him off to be with the Lord. He had just celebrated his 90th birthday. He was born June 8, 1922, to Lena Ansaldo and Desmond Joseph Dotts.
He had three brothers Gailord, Grant, and Monty Dotts. Argonne completed the eighth grade and then worked in several logging camps until the age of 16 when he went to the Tri-Cities to help build the Hanford Works.
He then joined the U.S. Army in April 1942, took basic training at El Paso, Texas, and was stationed at the Veterans Hospital as an orderly in Los Angeles.
After his service years he worked as a self employed logger. He was married to Frances Terry on Oct. 7, 1943, until she passed away May 10, 1976.
They had two children together, Joseph Brooks Dotts, and Joyce Leanna (Dotts) Mosser. He married his second wife Carol (Divers) Dotts on July 16, 1977. She brought three children to the marriage, Rick, Rob and Rhonda Divers. He retired from the logging business in 1979.
He worked for Chase Enterprises building docks and running tug boats on the many lakes of North Idaho. He then went to work for Pacific Powder, as a night watchman until his stroke in July 2000. He then moved in with his son and daughter-in-law (Donna) who cared for him the past 12 years.
During those 12 years, he enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, gardening, playing pinochle and cribbage with many friends and family.
The last two years he attended the Adult Day Program at the McGrane Center. He made many friends there and his family is very thankful for the love and care they gave him.
The transportation department of Kootenai Medical Center made his coming and going very easy as he rode the “KMC Bus” daily to and from the McGrane Center.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lena and Desmond Dotts, his wife, Frances Terry Dotts, brothers, Gailord and Monty Dotts. He is survived by his son, Joseph B. Dotts (Donna), his daughter, Joyce Leanna (Dotts) Mosser (Rob), his brother, Grant Dotts (Caroline), sister-in-law, Mary Kay Dotts (Monty), his ex-wife Carol (Divers) Dotts, Rick Divers, Rob Divers and Rhonda Divers. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kessia Bennett (Josh), Kelsey Lawson, Katie Dotts, Megan (Dotts) Tompkins (Josh), Deanna Dotts, Jessica (Dotts) Olmsted (Kyle) and Alexis Dotts, Kevin Divers, William Divers and Simon Divers, Candace Clark, and Cherrish Duncan.
He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Mallorie and Zachary Dotts and Ethan James Joseph Tisa.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday July 7, 2012, at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave, Hayden, ID, with a reception lunch immediately following.
