POLSON — A 41-year-old Polson man is now facing a charge of failing to register as a sex offender after an assault Tuesday.

According to a news release from the Polson Police Department, officers responded to Fourth Avenue West after an assault was reported. During the investigation, the suspect was identified as Fredderick Whitlock.

Witlock was found to have a prior sex offense conviction in Pennsylvania that would require him to register as a sex offender in his home county or city, but there was no record of him registering anywhere in Montana.

He was arrested and booked into the Lake County Jail on failure to register as well as a charge of misdemeanor assault.
