kNIFVES guest speakers July 12

Broadcast journalists and business executives Steve and Candace Mumm will be the guest speakers at the kNIFVES (Northwest Independent Film & Video Entertainment Society) meeting and lunch on Thursday, July 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Peacock Lounge in Spokane's historic Davenport Hotel, 10 South Post St., Spokane.

The meeting is free to first-time visitors, $5 for repeat visitors.

Valet parking and the Davenport public parking garage are free with a lunch receipt.

Gold Rush Days begin Aug. 3

Molly B'Damn Gold Rush Days are scheduled Aug. 3, 4 and 5 in Murray.

There will be vendors, food and entertainment.

Aug. 4 highlights will include the parade at 1 p.m., Molly look-a-like contest at 3 p.m. and Molly Queen at 6 p.m.

Parade entries welcome, vendors wanted.

'Oklahoma!' to hold auditions July 15-16

Auditions for "Oklahoma!" are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. July 15 and 16 at the Lake City Playhouse, 1320 E. Garden Ave.

Roles for folks ages 10 to 70 are available.

Those trying out should be prepared for dance and movement, and cold readings from script. Provide sheet music for a one-minute song, not from the show. No a capella or CD.

The director will be Andy Renfrew of the show that will run Sept. 14 to Oct. 14.

"Oklahoma!" tells the love story of Curly and Laurey, with a colorful background provided by farmers and cowboys.
