Wendie Ellis promoted by Numerica Credit Union

Wendie Ellis was recently promoted as assistant vice president of Numerica Credit Union's branch administration in Spokane.

Ellis possesses 20 years of experience in the financial industry, and the last 11 years have been spent with Numerica. Her most recent position was as branch manager at the Wandermere branch. She was named employee of the year in 2002.

Ellis obtained her degree in business management from Penn Foster College and is working toward her degree in business administration and management from Colorado Technical University.

Her new position with Numerica will involve overseeing the Lyons, Wandermere, Airway Heights, Hayden and Coeur d'Alene branches.

Numerica Credit Union currently has more than 90,000 members throughout Central and Eastern Washington and North Idaho and more than $1 billion in assets.

Financial adviser Rod Clugston receives A.F. McKenzie Award

Edward Jones financial adviser Rod Clugston of Coeur d'Alene recently received the A.F. McKenzie Award for his outstanding business building skills and client service efforts over the past year.

Clugston was one of only 172 financial advisers out of more than 12,000 to receive the A.F. McKenzie Award.

Edward Jones provides financial services for individual investors in the United States and, through its affiliate, in Canada.

ActiveWest Builders wins two Gold Nugget Awards

ActiveWest Builders recently won two Gold Nugget Awards in the international awards program sponsored by Builder Magazine and the Pacific Coast Builders Conference.

United Way to present July's Upbeat Breakfast on Tuesday

United Way will present July's Upbeat Breakfast, Tuesday, July 10 from 7-8:30 a.m. at The Coeur d'Alene Resort.

The speaker will be D. Patrick Jones, Ph.D., executive director for the Institute for Public Policy & Economic Analysis at Eastern Washington University. He will be speaking on "What Do Kootenai County Indicators Tell Us About the Local Economy."

Upbeat Breakfast occurs the second Tuesday of every month at The Coeur d'Alene Resort.

With a reservation, the cost is $14 and includes breakfast and coffee.

Empty cargo train derails in northeastern Montana

HELENA, Mont. (AP) - A BNSF Railway official says a cargo train has derailed on a main rail line running across the Northwest.

BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas says that there are no injuries and no environmental threat from Thursday morning's derailment near Saco in northeastern Montana.

The rail line was closed as crews worked to repair the track. Melonas says the line was expected to reopen as early as 10 p.m. today.

The train was headed from Minneapolis to Spokane, Wash.

Eight empty cars derailed, with seven toppling over an embankment.

Melonas says rail officials don't know what caused the derailment.
