PURSES: Great effort for fundraiser

What a great community we live in. I am involved as a volunteer at Dirne Community Health Center, which is the Healthcare Home to thousands of insured and uninsured right here in Kootentai County.

We recently had a fundraiser "Purses for a Purpose." The purpose was to raise money so uninsured and low income women can continue to take care of their annual preventative health-care needs. The event was a success and I would like to thank the community for making such an excellent effort in making the event possible. When we band together it is truly amazing to see what can be accomplished for such a great cause, Dirne Community Health Center.

RELOCATED: Thanks for all the support

I'm a single orphaned mother of two, we moved up north from Alabama a year ago as of spring to escape the tornadoes that destroyed much of the community we lived in.

I am so thankful for all the kindness shown to my children and I. We have been staying in a homeless shelter for families called Family Promise. Many of the local churches who work with Family Promise have fed and sheltered us in our time of need. To everyone I want to thank you. To all the lovely volunteers giving their time to make Family Promise work thank you.

Also many people in the community have helped us along the way. Fifth Avenue Salon, I want to thank you for cutting my daughter and my hair so I could look and feel good when looking for work. To the people that gave us money to buy shoes and a backpack, to the lady who took us and bought us these things I thank you. To the owner of a downtown coffee shop who refused my money and gave us free food and drinks I thank you.

To my wonderful boss at Britches and Bows, Pat, thank you for giving me a job doing what I love to do. Without your kindness I would not be where I am! To my eldest daughter thank you for storing our things - I love you! Mr. Bob you know who you are, thank you for helping get my kids and I into a home. Without such a support system I wouldn't be holding my children tight in their new home!

I feel so loved by everyone who wrapped their arms around us and didn't judge our situation. Family Promise, I can never thank you enough for what you have done for my children and I. You blessed my life not only with shelter but with love, friendship, support and acceptance! Keep up the awesome inspiring work! I love you all more than words!
