Nick and Tex Gaynos

70th Anniversary

Nick and Tex Gaynos were married in Fresno, Calif., in 1942. During their life together they raised two children, served their country by fighting for her freedoms and keeping the home fires burning, built a business, traveled the world and now are retired in Post Falls.

Members of "the greatest generation" they started from modest means and through their commitment to each other, faith in God and a spirit of optimism and perseverance achieved their dreams.

They will celebrate their milestone 70th anniversary in a private family celebration with Antonio and Nikki Arana, Esteban and Annie Arana, and Aristo Arana.

Through the years the sounds of music have marked their lives, first the wedding march, then military bands, later orchestras at plays and parties. But this anniversary there was music that could only be breathed into their lives by the God who continues to bless them. Their great-granddaughter ... Melody.

ENGAGEMENT

Slate-Turley

Shannon Slate and Shane Turley, both of Post Falls, will be united in marriage July 13, 2013.

Shannon is a student at Toni & Guy Hair dressing academy.

Elyse Marie Lyda was born at 9:07 p.m. June 2, 2012, to Meredith (Satterlee) and Jared Lyda of Coeur d'Alene. She weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz. and 20 inches long. Brother is Gideon, 2 years old. Paternal grandparents are Dave and Jenifer Lyda of Hayden. Maternal grandparents are Tom and Sarah Satterlee of Eagle, and Kathi Anderson of Anchorage, Alaska.

MILITARY

Mike PuFahl, deployed to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, has been promoted to 1LT PuFahl on June 21, his family announced. He is the son of Terry and Sandy PuFahl, of Coeur d'Alene. He is a 1994 graduate of Coeur d'Alene High School.
