Our Hero, Richard T. Barrett, 84, passed away at the Life Care Center in Post Falls on July 5, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.
Dick was born in November 1928 to John and Hazel Alberta Barrett and was raised in El Monte, Calif. His mother passed away when he was 17 and his dad married his second mom, Ruth Miller Barrett. In March 1950 he married the love of his life, Loretta Mueller Barrett. They were blessed with five children that they raised in Azusa, Calif.
Dick was a jack of all trades and loved his family. He retired in 1991, sold the family home in Azusa they had lived in since 1953 and moved north to start his and Lorett’s next life chapter in Post Falls where they owned property. He also loved visiting Montana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brother Jerry, step mother Ruth, Step Brother Robert Miller and Step Sister Carolyn Miller Cooke.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Loretta Barrett, daughters Victoria (Bryce) Nuckols of Cave Creek, Ariz., and Victor, Mont., Pamela (Clifford) Cooper of Hamilton, Mont., sons Thomas (Dorothy) Barrett of Post Falls, John Barrett, of Post Falls, and Richard, Jr. (Katie) of Newberry Park, Calif., grandchildren Suzanne Patrick and Kevin Shuler, Adam Stamm, Thomas, Jr. and Robert Barrett, Liz Wright, Melissa Flores and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his Sister, Linda Barrett of Walnut, Calif., step brother Bill (Betty Lou) Miller of Round Mountain, Calif., and longtime family member Rosie Ramirez of Covina, Calif., along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to River City Hospice and Life Care Center of Post Falls for their special care during his final days.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday July 14, 2012, at the English Funeral Chapels, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls. A luncheon reception will follow at the chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Dad’s name to River City Hospice, 3726 E. Mullan Ave., Post Falls, ID, 83854.
