LIBBY — The Libby Loggers rebounded from a tough loss to Kootenai Valley on Tuesday by sweeping the Rangers in a doubleheader on Wednesday. 

The Loggers hot out to fast starts in both games, scoring three runs in the first inning of both games. That was all the support pitchers Jared Winslow and Will Reichel needed, shutting down the Rangers in both contests.

Winslow allowed just six hits while throwing 15 strikeouts in the opening 9-2 win for Libby. He also went 2 for 4 with two RBIs from the plate. Luke Haggerty led the Loggers with a double and three RBIs.

In the nightcap, Reichel allowed just three hits and one run, striking out five batters in Libby’s 11-1 win. He held the Rangers scoreless until the fifth inning, when Kootenai Valley was able to rally for a late run. 

“I’m happy with the way they responded after a tough one yesterday,” Libby coach Kelly Morford said. “Jared and Will both threw great games for us.”

“It was the best all around effort we’ve had all season. We had good defensive plays and pitched and hit the ball really well.” 

The teams both host doubleheaders against teh Bitterroot Red Sox next, Libby on Friday and Kootenai Valley on Saturday.
