POST FALLS - Phones Plus, a Verizon retailer, plans to open a 6,000-square foot building on Seltice Way at the Highway 41 interchange off Interstate 90 in Post Falls at the end of November.

Chris Cheeley, president of Phones Plus, said ground will be broken for the $1 million building on July 23.

"We hope to move in around Black Friday," Cheeley said.

The two-story building will include 3,000 square feet of retail on the first floor and 3,000 square feet of administrative offices on the second floor that will enable the firm to have all of its management in one location rather than three. The building will include an electronic 10-by-17 screen on the outside similar to the one at the U.S. 95 and Hanley location.

Phones Plus will close its location at the intersection of Highway 41 and Mullan Avenue with the new building.

"We're moving from a 1,000-square-foot leased space into 6,000 square feet that I'll own," Cheeley said of a reason for the move.

He said the location along I-90 is also more visible than the mall adjacent to Del Taco.

"When people wake up in the morning and want to buy a cell phone, we want them to know right where we are," Cheeley said.

Phones Plus has been in its present Post Falls location for six years and, before that, was in the same building as the liquor store at Seltice Way and Highway 41 for about four years.

The new .7-acre site is just west of Highway 41 at the intersection where the eastbound I-90 offramp connects with Seltice Way.

There are currently two full-time employees and one part-timer that work at the Post Falls Phones Plus store. Cheeley said he anticipates expanding the staff to eight with the move.

Hours will be from 8 a.m. to 7 or 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.

Phones Plus also has a store on Northwest Boulevard in Coeur d'Alene in addition to the one on U.S. 95. It plans to break ground soon on its 12th store in the Northwest, which will be in Medford, Ore.
