Erik McQueen was arrested at Roosevelt Park in Troy on the Fourth of July after he reportedly tried to abduct a 6-year-old child.

Troy Police Chief Robert McLeod said the investigation still was ongoing, and they were interviewing witnesses to determine McQueen’s intent.

He was not charged with abduction, but a very intoxicated McQueen was charged with disorderly conduct and assault on a minor.

“You’ve been told all your life not to trust strangers,” McLeod said. “And now a stranger is pulling you along by the hand? And for the parents? It’s very scary.”
