Grass fire on hwy 28 put out quick

PLAINS - Less than a quarter-acre of land was burnt up by an afternoon grass fire near mile marker two Friday due to unknown causes.
The emergency call came in at 12-Noon, according to authorities. Plains-Paradise Rural Fire District, DNRC, USFS and Plains Volunteer Fire Dept. responded to the call and were on scene. The fire was put out within minutes, with minimal damage.
Plains-Paradise Rural Fire District Asst. Chief Lee Mercier led the investigation, and stated Rural brought the most rigs. He didn't speculate the cause, but said that information will be revealed soon.
"It's our fourth wildfire this season," Mercier said.
Mercier also said as the season goes on, more wildfires can be expected.
