A 45-year-old Kalispell woman pleaded not guilty Thursday in Flathead District Court to what would be her fourth offense of driving under the influence.

According to a court document, Anna Alcock was involved in a two-vehicle accident on June 25 but left the scene before officers arrived. The person who reported the accident followed Alcock to a house and then provided the address to police.

When approached at the home, Alcock allegedly admitted driving one of the vehicles involved in the accident. As the officer brought her outside to talk, she nearly fell down walking down the steps and continued to have problems maintaining her balance.

The officer arrested Alcock and took her to the Kalispell Police Department, where she allegedly tried to leave through the back door while he was doing paperwork. She refused to perform field sobriety tests or take breath alcohol tests.

While completing the necessary paperwork, the officer also discovered Alcock had three prior convictions for drunk driving and that her license was suspended.

The officer then obtained a warrant for a blood draw to test for alcohol, and transported Alcock to the Kalispell Regional Medical Center. She allegedly refused to cooperate at first, yelling, cursing and causing a general disturbance.

While the officer was waiting for the blood draw to be completed, he received more information from the officer who interviewed the driver of the other vehicle in the crash. The driver told him Alcock had crossed over the center line on the road and struck her vehicle head-on.

The driver also said Alcock got out of her car and offered her $5,000 not to contact police. When the other driver did call police, Alcock left.

Alcock’s prior convictions for driving under the influence came in January 2005, November 2009 and July 2011.

If convicted, she faces 13 months in jail or a residential alcohol treatment program and a consecutive suspended sentence of five years. If Alcock has already been placed in residential alcohol treatment for a past conviction, her potential sentence could grow to five years in jail along with the suspended sentence and a fine of between $1,000 and $10,000.

Her next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 19.
