LIBBY — A doubleheader sweep Sunday of the Glacier Twins on the final day of regular season play in Class A American Legion baseball gave the Libby Loggers the No. 3 seed for the upcoming West District A Tournament, which begins Thursday in Missoula.

The Loggers rode the hot bat of Micah Germany and the strong arm of Jared Winslow to a 9-0 triumph over the Twins in the first game.

Will Reichel came back with another complete game performance on the hill in the final as the Loggers rolled over Glacier 9-3.

Libby, winners of six of its last eight games, finished 24-20 overall, 12-8 in league action.

“Jared pounded the strike zone with his fast ball and mixed in some off-speed stuff when he had to,” Libby coach Kelly Morford said of the opener.

“Micah has been on a terror the last couple weeks and that continued in the first game.”

Germany was 3 for 4 in that outing and drove in two runs, along with Reichel.

Winslow struck out 12 and walked three in seven innings.

Oliver Gruphenhoff led the Libby attack in the second game. He was 3 for 4 with three RBIs.

Reichel finished with three strikeouts and walked just one batter.

“Will threw well,” Morford said. “He’s been right there ... giving us good starts, too.”

Libby will play No. 6 seeded Kalispell Lakers in the district tournament on Thursday at 1 p.m.
