Lumbermen advance to semifinals

CLACKAMAS, Ore. - Coeur d'Alene scored once in the sixth inning to tie it and scored three times in the seventh to take the lead and beat Westview 5-2 at the Clackamas Diamond Classic on Saturday at Clackamas High.
Chad Nyquist doubled in the sixth and scored on Grant Curtis' sacrifice fly to tie it at 2 for the Lumbermen, a class AA team.
In the seventh, Jesse O'Hagan was hit by a pitch. Joe Roletto bunted, and the third baseman threw wildly down the first-base line. O'Hagan scored, and Roletto wound up at third. Colin Comack delivered a sacrifice fly. Chad Nyquist walked, stole second and moved to third on an error, then scored on a double steal.
"They kept their focus," Coeur d'Alene coach Lloyd Duman said. "I was probably more worried than they were."
Pete Hoffman struck out four and scattered four hits for the Lumbermen (31-6), who play in the semifinals today at 12:15 p.m. A win would put Coeur d'Alene in the title game at 5:45; a loss would put the Lums in the third-place game at 3.

MISSOULA, Mont. - The Prairie Cardinals single-A squad lost 3-2 to the Bitterroot Bucs and beat the Dillon Cubs 17-1 in five innings at the Missoula Mavericks tournament.
The Cardinals play the Missoula Mavericks today at 4:30 p.m. PDT.
