Lee R. Holom, 87, passed away on July 12, 2012, in Coeur d’Alene. Lee was born in April 1925 in Medina, N.D., where he was raised until he was 10 years old, then the family moved to Fairview, Mont.
On Nov. 26, 1943, he married Esther Johnson in Sidney, Mont. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and spent time in the South Pacific on the USS Denver. After his discharge he moved to Scoby, Mont., and in 1949 moved to Post Falls, before settling in Coeur d’Alene in 1959. Lee worked for Kaiser Aluminum Trentwood for 32 years, retiring in March 1981.
Lee was lucky to have such caring and thoughtful neighbors. He enjoyed coffee time and visits with Nate and Heather Thompson and breakfast outings with Darlene and Milt Hochhalter whom he played many a card game with. He had a great sense of humor and could always put a smile on your face.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church, VFW in Coeur d’Alene, and Steelworkers Union in Spokane. He enjoyed boating, flying, skiing and traveling. Lee loved animals.
Lee is survived by three sons: David Holom of Coeur d’Alene, Dennis Holom of Spokane and Don (Lynn) Holom of Coeur d’Alene; two sisters: Hilda Miller of Plentywood, Mont., and Luella Beguin of Anderson, Calif.; nieces and nephews: Darlene (Milt) Hochhalter, George (Maggie) Holom, Duane (Melinda) Holom and Holly Holom; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Amy Holom; his wife, Esther Holom and his brothers, Arthur Holom and Stanley Holom.
