Hicks' first major-league homer finishes off Texas

Brandon Hicks led off the bottom of the ninth with a towering home run to center for his first major league clout, lifting the Oakland Athletics to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Texas Rangers on Wednesday.
Hicks connected off Michael Kirkman for Oakland's majors-leading ninth walkoff win. He became the fourth player in franchise history to hit a game-ending homer for his first career longball and the second this year, joining Derek Norris on June 25 against San Francisco.
Yankees 6, Blue Jays 0: Hiroki Kuroda pitched four-hit ball and Mark Teixeria hit a two-run homer in a four-run first inning as New York beat visiting Toronto in a rain-shortened game.
Tigers 7, Angels 2: Doug Fister gave up two hits over eight innings and struck out 10 as Detroit beat visiting Los Angeles.
Red Sox 10, White Sox 1: Cody Ross hit three-run homers in consecutive innings and Felix Doubront pitched six solid innings and Boston beat visiting Chicago.
Indians 10, Rays 6: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Carlos Santana hit a three-run homer during a five-run seventh inning as visiting Cleveland rallied to beat Tampa Bay.
Orioles 2, Twins 1: At Minneapolis, Adam Jones hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Baltimore beat Minnesota.

Brewers 4, Cardinals 3: Francisco Rodriguez loaded the bases and walked in a run before getting Lance Berkman to fly out as Milwaukee beat visiting St. Louis.
Dodgers 5, Phillies 3, 12 inn.: Matt Kemp hit a two-run homer in the 12th inning to lead Los Angeles past visiting Philadelphia.
Pirates 9, Rockies 6: At Denver, Garrett Jones had three hits, including one of Pittsburgh's four home runs to beat Colorado.
Padres 8, Astros 4: Yonder Alonso went 2 for 4 with three RBIs as San Diego used a five-run fourth inning to beat visiting Houston.
Nationals 4, Mets 3: Jordan Zimmerman pitched six shutout innings and Adam LaRoche hit a two-run homer as Washington hung on to beat visiting New York.
Diamondbacks 7, Reds 1: Jason Kubel returned from a sore hamstring to homer in his first two at-bats as visiting Arizona dropped Cincinnati.
Giants 9, Braves 4, 11 inn.: Brandon Crawford and Gregor Blanco hit three-run homers in the 11th inning and San Francisco recovered after blowing a two-run lead in the 10th to beat host Atlanta.
Cubs 5, Marlins 1, 7 inn.: Starlin Castro homered in a four-run seventh inning as Chicago beat visiting Miami in a rain-shortened game after heavy rain began falling in the eight and the teams never returned to the field.
