Sue Ann Dorn, 79, died peacefully at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday, July 17, 2012.

She was born in Bloomington, Ill., to Benjamin and Ina (Shepherd) Barham on July 29, 1933. She married the late Bill H. Dorn Sr. in 1950 and together, they had four sons. They lived in Bloomington until relocating to Boise in 1959. Sue and Bill then moved to Hayden Lake in 1963.

Sue spent her life helping others. During the ’70s, she operated the B-Bar-D, a home for troubled youth in Sandpoint. For most of the ’80s, Sue lived in Bonners Ferry, where she managed the Deep Creek Motel. The ’90s brought Sue back to Hayden Lake, where she owned and operated an assisted living home for the elderly, called “Forever Young.” Sue enjoyed playing the piano, and cooking, but her favorite pastime was reading her Bible. Sue was a devout Seventh-day Adventist, and enjoyed sharing her love for The Lord with her family and friends.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Tom; as well as her sons, Joe and Tom Dorn.

She is survived by her sons, Bill Dorn Jr. and Ben Dorn; her granddaughters, April, Billijo, Melissa, Jessica and Jenna; her grandsons, Robert, Benjamin, Joseph, Jacob and Michael; as well as 13 of her great-grandchildren.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Sue touched are invited to attend her burial at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Seneacquoteen Cemetery in Bonner County.
