Schoolhouse seeks volunteers

VALLEY VIEW — The Valley View School, located southwest of Polson, is seeking volunteer assistance for their fundraising efforts this summer.
This weekend, on July 21 and 22, volunteers will tackle a local fencing project, with the proceeds going toward Valley View. The project will be taking place at the Sloan family farm at the corner of Round Butte Road and Turnquist Road. Food will be provided and anyone is welcome to help out.
Opened in 1911, the schoolhouse is the oldest educational facility in the Mission Valley.
The school has experienced a recent budget shortfall attributed to the reassessment of property values of local farmland. Last year, Valley View had difficulty paying their month-to-month bills.
The school has set a goal of raising $10,000, and has been making steady progress through their ongoing scrap metal drive.
For more information about the fundraising campaign, those interested can call 883-2208.
