Mission Valley rolls by Libby; Glacier out

MISSOULA — Top-seeded Mission Valley pushed eight runs across the plate in the second inning and followed with three-run innings in the fourth and sixth to roll over Libby 14-1 on Saturday at the Western A District American Legion baseball tournament.
Libby, the No. 3 seed, and Mission Valley were both undefeated in tournament play.
Mission Valley banged out 14 hits in the win, led by Chris Clary, 3 for 4, and Jacob Young, Jack Humphreys and Dalton Molzhon, who were all 2 for 4.
Justin Evertz threw a 1-hitter. He totaled 11 strikeouts and walked four.
Libby advanced to Saturday’s winners’ bracket contest with an 11-7 late Friday night victory over the Missoula Mavs.

A grand slam home run and five RBIs by Sage Hansen carried the second-seeded Bitterroot Bucs to a lopsided victory over Kootenai Valley in loser-out action.
Tommy Shepard and Noah Baney held Kootenai Valley (31-23) to three hits.
Tyler Thorson, 4 for 5, drove in four runs. He doubled and tripled.

Jayce Fagerland had three hits in three plate appearances for the Glacier Twins.
