Pain and decreased function can be caused by a number of different things: surgery, syndromes, strains, and on and on. There are also multiple ways to decrease pain and improve function following an injury or other debilitation. At Pinnacle Physical Therapy we offer a remarkable procedure that allows your Physical Therapist to detect and treat areas of scar tissue or adhesions in muscles, tendons and ligaments. These scar tissues and adhesions can reduce range of motion and cause significant pain.

During the healing process, the body attempts to repair an injury naturally through normal body functions. Unfortunately, many times during this process, the body creates scar tissue - much like the scar that appears on your skin after you have cut yourself. Over time, your body can create a build up of this scar tissue, particularly in the muscles, tendons and ligaments that receive a lot of use. This can lead to pain and dysfunction because the scar tissue lacks the strength, flexibility and resiliency of healthy tissue.

At Pinnacle Physical Therapy we use specially-designed techniques and specific soft tissue mobilization that is combined with rehabilitative exercises to improve musculoskeletal function. We non surgically detect and treat areas of scar tissue or adhesions in muscles, tendons and/or ligaments that can reduce range of motion and cause pain.

These innovative procedures can be used in the treatment of painful scars, tendinosis, joint strain, muscle strain, cervical and lower back pain, IT Bank Syndrome, Plantar Fasciitis and many other ailments.

The benefit of this technique is not only the detection of restrictions or adhesions, but also in the amount of improvement that takes place for the average patient in a short amount of time. Just some of the benefits patients have experienced when they have been treated with this technique include decreased pain, increase in function, release of fascial restrictions and adhesions, facilitates reflex changes in muscle tone, increases blood flow to the healing region and increases cellular activity.

To find out more about this technique or to schedule an evaluation to see if this is right for you, call one of our two convenient locations today - Post Falls (208) 777-4242 or Coeur d'Alene (208) 665-2000. You can also visit us at www.pinnaclephysicaltherapy.org.
