Chris Edward Miller, 46

Chris Edward Miller, 46, formerly of Rathdrum and Post Falls, died July 13, 2012, after a long illness with Cystic Fibrosis.

Chris was born March 23, 1966, in Fort Collins, Colo., and grew up in Durango, Colo., with his father, Ronald G. Miller and stepmother, Coleene Miller. He served in the United States Navy after high school as a CMTSA, maintaining electronic and electromechanical equipment. Chris also served several years in the Army National Guard, stationed in Post Falls as a Sergeant and Device Specialist. He recently earned his associate’s degree in science while attending the Nursing Program at North Idaho College, where he was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Chris was also a master mechanic; he loved fixing things. When he came to visit you, he brought his tools. He appeared stoic but had a great sense of humor. He loved to laugh. He also loved hiking, biking, fishing and running. When he was healthy, he would run 10 miles everyday for fun. He was a Christian and devoutly believed in God and Heaven. After six years of battling undiagnosed cystic fibrosis and neuropathy, Chris is finally at peace and no longer in pain.

Survivors include his father, Ronald Miller; sisters, Jody Giesing, Cheri Kiesecker, Anne Schaub, Kelly McCullar and Lura Neckel; and former wife, Maria Miller.

A private service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colo.
