COEUR d'ALENE - A fundraiser for a Coeur d'Alene boy battling leukemia is scheduled this week.
Landon Burt, 5, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia last month after complaining of headaches and bruises appeared. He is being treated at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.
Friend Debbie Smith is organizing a garage sale for the family to help with medical and daily living expenses. She said the boy is doing well, but has a tough fight ahead.
"He's such a brave little guy," she said.
A garage sale is set for 8 a.m. to late afternoons on July 27 and 28 at 2640 Freeland Drive, in The Landings in Coeur d'Alene.
Donations are being accepted, and can be dropped off at the home Thursday or Friday. The sale will offer clothes, books, furniture and other household items.
Landon Burt is the son of Tracy Burt, a nursing student at North Idaho College.
"He's her whole life," Smith said.
Tracy said her son is receiving chemotherapy treatments and underwent a surgery Tuesday. Because he has leukemia in his retinas, he will have to undergo radiation as well.
