ROYAL CITY - The most important decision to come out of a Royal School District-sponsored facilities meeting last week was the scheduling of a new meeting on July 31.
It will be held at Royal High School Library at 7:30 p.m.
"Everybody who came to the last meeting is supposed to bring at least one new person," Superintendent Rose Search said.
That would mean an attendance of at least 40 people. There were 20 at the meeting of July 17, including 14 people who are not members of the Community Communications Committee.
That group heard a presentation by Business Manager David Andra on enrollment patterns in the district. Andra also spoke about three failed recent attempts to pass a construction bond. He noted a 60 percent yes vote was needed and that the actual votes were 48, 55 and 54 percent yes.
Search said there was little discussion of using portable classrooms to solve space problems. There was discussion of a bond to meet current and future needs.
"Our enrollment keeps on growing," Search said.
Search said portables are not a very good option because they don't affect crowding where it exists most, in the cafeterias and hallways.
"It was a positive meeting," Search said. "I hope these people will bring others."
