Glenn Earl Smith, 82, passed away on July 27, 2012, at his home in Columbia Falls.

He was born Nov. 14, 1929, in Great Falls, to Earl Frederick and Lou Marie (Smail) Smith.

The family moved many times throughout the Northwest but settled in Lewiston, where Glenn graduated from high school.

Glen worked for the Columbia Falls Aluminum Plant and then spent several years as a sawyer. Over the last 40 years he was known by all as “Jobber Joe” or simply “Jobber,” making a living as a carpenter, plumber and handyman — whatever needed done.

In 1965 he dedicated his life to the Sovereign Lord Jehovah and was an active servant of Him in the Whitefish congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Glenn was preceded in death by his son Douglas in 1971.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, at the family home; daughter Joan and husband Lloyd Anderson of Whitefish; son, Van, of Columbia Falls, sisters, Corrine Miller and Frieda Gasse; brothers, Dale and Duane Smith; 16 nieces and nephews; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Glen will be greatly missed and “we all look forward to the resurrection to life on a paradise earth as foretold in John 5: 26-29.”

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Whitefish Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1900 Hwy. 93 West.
