COEUR d'ALENE - Joe Roletto went 5 for 5 with a two-run home run in the first game and Grant Curtis went 3 for 4 with two RBIs in the second game as the Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen beat the Spokane Northstars 19-9 and 7-2 in the Border Wars tournament at McEuen Field on Saturday.

Due to rain, which wiped out two games scheduled for Prairie, the tournament was altered to a doubleheader on Saturday after the Spokane Blue Devils were unable to play in Saturday's late game. Prairie will face the Northstars today at 1 p.m. and will face Coeur d'Alene at 3 p.m. in a nonleague game.

"It was just amazing we got the field ready to play," Coeur d'Alene coach Lloyd Duman said. "With the way this tournament was scheduled, the weather had to be perfect to get the games in, and it didn't work out."

Nick Nyquist finished the day 5 for 7 with five RBIs for Coeur d'Alene (5-1).

"We hit the ball very well today," Duman said. "We're still going to be working on our fundamentals. That's why we're playing these games right now, but all in all, the kids are playing very well right now."
