Firefighters stop fire in Kalispell basement

The Kalispell Fire Department put out a house fire at 1305 Fourth St. W. late Monday morning.
A neighbor reported the fire at about 11:39 a.m.
Upon arrival, fire crews found smoke and fire coming from a basement window.
Crews aggressively attacked the fire to put it out, according to a press release from Fire Chief Dave Dedman.
The fire’s cause is unknown and remains under investigation.
No one was home at the time, and there were no reported injuries.
Extensive smoke damage was found throughout the home with water and fire damage confined to the basement.
Evergreen Fire Department, Kalispell Police Department, Flathead Electric Cooperative, American Red Cross and the Kalispell Public Works Department assisted at the scene.
