Lucy Catherine Covey, 82, of Silverton, passed away June 1, 2012, at the Silver Wood Good Samaritan in Silverton. She was born April 11, 1930, in Pueblo, Colo. Lucy was the daughter of Harry E. and Katherine (Patterson) Dudley.
Lucy moved to the Silver Valley in 1951 from Bonners Ferry. She married Gene F. Covey on Feb. 24, 1953, in Pinehurst. Gene passed away on Dec. 17, 2005.
Lucy was a homemaker and had also served as an Avon representative for 40-plus years.
Lucy was a member of the Osburn Community Baptist Church in Osburn. She loved and enjoyed motorcycle riding with her husband Gene; Lucy also enjoyed snowmobiling, four-wheeling and gardening. She especially loved attending car shows with her beautiful 1957 Crown Victoria car, of which she won many trophies and awards.
Lucy is survived by three children, Stan (Leslie) Covey of Lake Coeur d’Alene, Cathy Reese of Las Vegas, Nev., and Carolyn Corthell of Milwaukee, Ore.; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Barbara Bennett of Osburn and Berneice Morgen of Hayden. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene Covey and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, at the Osburn Community Baptist Church in Osburn with Rev. Bob Evans and Rev. Paul Hegg officiating. Burial will be held at the Osburn Cemetery in Osburn. A luncheon/reception will be held at the church following services. A viewing/visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel in Kellogg; everyone is welcome.
