Summer meal programs seem almost as ritualistic as the joy that comes for students with the ringing of the last school bell marking the end of another school year.

Libby Public Schools, in conconjunction with  the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), will begin its Summer Food Service Program beginning June 11 and running through Aug. 16 at Libby High School.

A second venue, also beginning June 11, will run one week, and that will coincide with the Vacation Bible School program at Libby Christian Church located at 100 Kootenai River Road.

Libby Superintendent K.W. Maki has called it a great program for all the children of Libby.

It is a program for all students 18 years and younger. Adults may purchase breakfast for $2 and lunch for $3.50.

Breakfast will be served from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The VBS schedule is 8:30 to 9 a.m. and noon to 12:30 p.m.

In June, the LHS venue will be weekdays. In July and August, it will run Monday through Thursday only.
