Three new principals expected at Post Falls

POST FALLS - The Post Falls School District will have three new principals this fall.

Dawn Mackesy will be recommended to the school board on Monday as the new principal to replace Brad Harmon at New Vision alternative high school.

Harmon, who has been at New Vision for two years and was a teacher at River City Middle School for six years before that, will replace Randy Allen as the vice principal of RCMS. Allen is retiring.

Janelle Baker will be recommended to replace Colleen Kelsey at Prairie View Elementary and Kandi Kuck to replace Julie Billetz at the Frederick Post Kindergarten.

Both Billetz and Kelsey are retiring.

Kuck, of Spokane Valley, has been employed at PFSD since 1995. She has been a special education teacher and was the assistant principal at Seltice Elementary from 2007 to 2011. She has a master's degree in education from the University of Idaho and a bachelor's degree specializing in special education from Gonzaga University.

Baker, who will lead Prairie View, has been at River City Middle School since 2005. She has been the math department head, an adviser for Associated Student Body, Support Teens Against Nicotine Dependency and Idaho Drug Free Youth, a cheerleading coach, STEM innovation team member through UI and has been involved in other efforts.

Baker, from Rathdrum, has also been an adjunct math instructor at North Idaho College. She is attending the University of Idaho, pursuing an education specialist degree and has a master's from UI in education and a bachelor's from UI in education.

Mackesy, of Post Falls, has taught economics, government, English and world history at Mountain View Alternative High School in Rathdrum since 2004. She has served as the senior project coordinator, intramural sports director, student council adviser and Global Economic Summit coach.

Mackesy taught a variety of subjects at Lakeland Junior High in Rathdrum from 1996 to 2004. She has a master's degree in education administration from the University of Idaho and a bachelor's in English from Eastern Washington University.
