MARINES: Breakfast buyers appreciated

Whomever bought breakfast for the group from Marine Corps League - Pappy Boyington Detachment, at the Blue Plate Restaurant in Hayden, on Wednesday, May 30, we wish to thank you very much. It was a treat for all of us and we enjoyed.

If you're ever in the restaurant on one of our regular Wednesday morning gatherings, please come over to our tables and introduce yourself or selves, so we can thank you personally.

CARENET: Turned vet's garden into showplace

CareNet is a nonprofit group of members that serve seniors in our community. These people are dedicated, educated and caring, including nurses that take time off from their regular jobs to assist seniors in need.

Tiffany Jones and Stephani Godinez put together a group from CareNet and called it, "Rake and Run." On a cold and windy May 23 morning they came to my house in Rathdrum with mowers, weed whackers, trailer, gloves and muscle and put in well over two solid hours of work to turn my yard and garden area into a showplace. I am an 86-year-old vet on oxygen 24/7. How can I thank them?

The Rake and Run group was Tom and Sharon Spann, Tiffany Jones, Stephani Godinez, Kyle Tudahl, Rex and Peggy Fairfield, Jennifer Leitzke, Kate Anstin and Cindy Shannon.

God bless you all!

VETERANS: Thanks to food sponsors

Kudos to the food dispensers who offered free meals to veterans on Memorial Day. We especially want to thank Eric Soles for his sponsorship and hosting of lunch for 11 submarine veterans at Capone's on Fourth Street. There were other veterans there also, but we were a group and took up four tables with wives. Thank you again.
